This engraved bovid is from the “Gran Riparo d’Archei”, one of the most visited rock art site in the Ennedi. It was published on the cover of a special volume devoted to the rock art of Chad: Negro Giancarlo & Faleschini Guido, 1996. Archei VII. In Arte rupestre nel Ciad. Borku – Ennedi – Tibesti. Segrate, Pyramids, 80-83. It is clearly superimposed by painted humans in the Hohu style (upper corner of the present image), which are attributed by Bailloud (1997) to the middle cattle period. Negro et al. (1996) considered this bovid as a wild animal. I wonder if it possible to establish if it really represent a wild bovid or not.
